The Hammond Drill Team performs during the football and basketball seasons. During football season, the team takes on both a drill style and poms style performances. The team is very appreciative of all the support they have received from Mr. Lerner and Ms. Leonard.
Green Team is a group of students and teachers at Hammond that strive to educate the school and local community on how to be environmentally friendly. We've obtained Green School status and continue to implement new ideas in order to maintain it. We meet every other Wednesday from 2:15-3:15 in Rm 222.
Ursa Major is a robotics team that competes in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) competition. The team is given a new challenge each year and must design and build a robot that meets the challenge in a six week build window. The club allows students utilize what they learned in the classroom in a real world hands on situation. The Student Leadership Cadre at Hammond High School is a group of 10th-12th grade students, selected through an application process each June, who serve as ambassadors for the school, participate in leadership and service activities, plan schoolwide Advisory activities, and provide feedback to the administration.
The Vision, Hammond's literary and art publication, provides a creative outlet for students to express individuality and convey artistic messages through a variety of rhetorical genres and diverse mediums. Our goal is to highlight the creative talent of Hammond's student body and create a community of expressive and unique artists and writers. We are always looking for submissions, as well as students who are interested in putting the magazine together in the spring. The Vision also holds Writers' Workshops for Hammond's creative writers.
